Niagara Falls 2019

Wednesday: Faith and Reagan arrived at are house at four a.m. We piled into our big van and ten hours later arrived at our house in Canada. Faith, Reagan, Jared, and I went grocery shopping at Walmart (which took us three U-turns to find!) soon after we got there. We then prepared supper, ate and then walked to the falls for our first view. We were awestruck by the beauty and ready for the few days ahead to view, learn and tour the falls!

Our backyard vineyard!
First view!

SELFIE TIME! Reagan and Jared were fighting over the camera the whole time! So that is definitely why we have so many stupid pictures in our collections!!
...Like this one...
...and this one...
...and this one...
... and this one-that is only half of them!!
Of course we have to have pictures of the BEAUTIFUL hanging baskets!

More views of the falls

Thursday: We went to the NY side of the falls. Once we got across the border we had the difficult task of parking a big van. The parking garage was too low. The parking lots were either too full or didn't take big vans... we finally found a spot after going in multiple circles!! We definitely felt for the other big van who we were following around! They had the same trouble as us!! We really enjoyed Niagara State Park. We walked and viewed the powerful falls ( Faith lost her phone. Surprised?), watched a video, and then went on the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds (highly rated by our family!). The Cave of the Winds was a walkway sort of thing where you were able to walk practically into the falls. Thank goodness for our raincoats! The Maid of the Mist was a boat that went into the horseshoe. The power was amazing- you felt like you were going to drive right into the falls when you were actually 100ft away. You could not even see because you were blasted. It was really neat as well! We started the drive home around five and had trouble with the border. Big white vans make borders officers suspicious. Especially when the drivers keep their sunglasses on! We finally arrived home, ate supper and then watched a movie. We also enjoyed some geography tests and then were watching Christian comedians. Yes! We stayed up late!

 Cave of the Winds

Maid of the Mist-We only got one picture because once we got a little into it we could hardly see much less take pictures!

Lunch!!
Liberty made friends when we were standing in line!!!

Friday: We started our late morning with devotions and breakfast and then went to falls. We spent some time viewing them and then headed to the Skylon tower. We went up in a elevator and spent some time viewing the falls from very high up! Then we went and watched a video at the IMAX-it turned out being the same movie we watched on Thursday!! We then took a bathroom break and seven of us went one way out of the bathrooms and the other two-Marcus and Dad-went the other way out of the bathroom. We did get kind of worried after maybe thirty minutes of being separated and very bad phone service. We then headed home ate some lunch and then all the kids went shopping. The boys went to Bass Pro and Faith and I went shopping at the mall! We spent an hour or so and then went back to our house. We kind of guessed the exit to take! Thank goodness we got home!! After supper we went back down to the falls (taking the trail that said NO public access!) and then ate some snacks while we waited for the light show/fireworks to begin. Once it FINALLY did, we really enjoyed it. Except for being freezing without sweatshirts! We got back home close to ten and crashed into bed!

Morning devotions!-We read 2 Peter through the whole week. Our theme song was "There's a Fountain Free."

More of the falls!

The Skylon Tower!

The light show and fireworks

Saturday: We went to a hiking park an hour or so away and hiked all morning and then met up with the Kitchener Young Group, ate lunch and then hiked some more. We were extremely exhausted with all the ups and downs of the trail but had lots of fun and loved the Niagara River we were walking by!
As you can imagine it took us quite a ways down to get to the same level of the water!
Picture time!

Lunch time...and on the trail again!

Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of when it broke in half shortly after this picture was taken!!

Sunday: We got up WAY too early, and then went to Kitchener for church! We left for home right after church but it took us much longer to get home than the way there. Construction and Liberty were both bad!! We finally made it back home though and ended our awesome vacation!
Niagara Falls was one of many favorite vacations! I really enjoyed all the different views we were able to take of the falls. The color of the water was gorgeous and best of all I loved the family time and memories we made! I think we all had a blast!
