Christmas Favorites 2015

(yes... just now getting to Christmas. Better late than never!!)

Christmas time with the Bluniers is no halfway holiday. If you've followed our blog for several years, you've most likely encountered annual posts of our immediate family Christmas, plus gatherings with Mom and Dad's families. We include a lot of the same traditions every year, making each Christmas special in its own way! But instead of giving you an explicit account of all of our traditions again this year, we'll just share a few favorites. :)

First off, we had a *favorite* book this year: The Treasury of Christmas Miracles by Karen Kingsbury- a wonderful way to get in the spirit of the season as a family. (It was so engaging that only Jared saw the mouse that wanted to listen in too.)

Second Favorite book: Christmas Oranges retold by Linda Bethers and illustrated by Ben Sowards. So touching- and such beautiful pictures.

Our favorite fun Christmas recipe: edible peppermint play-doh. Worked great and was pretty yummy- at least at the beginning...

Favorite New Item:  our blog in print! We got the first two years in a hardback book with pictures and text. So fun to review our life happenings so many years ago. We plan to continue to print a couple years at a  time til we are caught up.

Favorite Song: Holiday Blessings (sung really really fast :) )

Close Seconds: Mary, Did You Know? - this will always be a favorite because we have such good memories associated with it, as well as No Reservations at the Inn. We sang them both at FVH. We really needed a video of Kenan :)

Favorite Event: the live Nativity near Cissna Park. A must-see every year! So impressive.

Favorite Surprise: the new bookshelves and stools everyone gave Mom for our school room.

Favorite Meal: Dad's Christmas dinner has got to be the best around! Each year it's something different, but always the same mouthwatering goodness :).

the results of our family Christmas :)

We traveled to Princeville the Saturday after Christmas for Dad's family Christmas! Our favorite tradition here is Grandma's haystacks :).

have no clue what was being discussed here, but it must have been interesting!

we got her a rocking chair for her porch! And no... she doesn't use the cane, her sons just made her hold it in the picture :).

our appetizer spread for supper! and with it being a Blunier get together, of course it was a contest to see who could bring the best dip :). Ours didn't wasn't the favorite (this time... ;)  )

Our Leman Christmas gathering was actually over New Years Weekend this year!

we always read old Leman funnies ;)

a special little addition was Abram- he fit in just fine :)

Grandpa's shirt is the best! :)
