Turkey Run, Hike, and Swim

This past weekend we escaped the gardens for some fun with friends at Turkey Run! The Wagenbachs joined us for church on Sunday, and then we all settled in for some camping later in the afternoon. Don't be fooled though.... we didn't camp:). Our family booked a lodge room for the night, but spent lots of time out at the campsite with the Wagenbachs and their camper. All of the rain we've been having made for some muddy clothes and shoes, no canoeing, and some wet boys in the middle of the night, but we still had fun:).

sunday evening supper! Just as we were starting to eat it started raining just a little... but as soon as we moved everything under the canopy, it stopped:).

After our supper, we decided it was time for a little hike. However, by the time we made it to the trail it was getting late and starting to thunder (and lily wasn't feeling too great... thankfully that was fast moving!). We took a chance at it anyway though, and arrived back to our vehicles just at dusk, hot, sweaty, and ready for a campfire (ha!). :)

sweaty but sweet :)

we enjoyed marshmallows and other snacks + some singing before calling it a night.
Monday morning we arrived back for breakfast around the fire! The sun was shining and we were all ready for a great day :).

so glad lils could enjoy her day!!

the three muskateers :)

we discovered some neat canyons and cliffs on our hiking monday morning

these two became fast friends just like Kenan does with any girl his age.... "Where is the little girl that is six?" sigh

happy hikers!

"I think I can.... I think I can" :)

We were hungry by the time we made it back for lunch!
We had been planning on canoeing Monday afternoon, but with all the rain is wasn't really possible, so instead we went swimming (and got sunburnt...).

some swam:

some crashed :)

After another supper at the campsite and some games in the evening, it was time to head home. It was a short little get-a-way but just long enough to let the weeds get out of control. Oh well, we enjoyed our time - it was totally worth it! Next year?

  1. Oh yes! It was awesome to be with all you guys! I was so disappointed you guys decided to stay in the lodge instead of a camper! That's the next thing you're gonna get, right Dave? It was still worth it! Even though we didn't go canoeing:) So glad we could fit this into our schedules! By the way why is your last phrase a question?! 'Course we'll do it next year! Love you all! -Kendra
