This post is going to be boring, I already know so - Because I'm not going to post any pictures. Usually, we post tons of pictures on every post - and I'm so glad we do. In fact, that's the reason I'm writing this post (told ya it would be boring...).
So, why do we really blog? It's not that we have anything more special to offer than other families. It's not like we're always the nice, normal we want everyone to think of us as. We've discovered that the biggest reason we blog is to preserve all the memories that are made each day (the good, the bad, and the ugly...). AND to preserve our pictures!!!
You see, we lost all of our families pictures from the past year.
For some people, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But for us, with a mom who's a photographer, and the perfect photogenic family (*smile*), losing that many pictures from our memory vault is a big deal!! Our computer was having issues, and so finally, after trying several things, Dad sent it to HP to get fixed. They fixed it by sending it back as a new computer with everything wiped off of it. So Dad began restoring our files from the back-up program we use and that's when he discovered that the back-up program also hadn't been working, and the memory vault wasn't backed up. We did have all the previous photos from before this computer (1 year old) backed up on a hard drive, so the total we lost was one year's worth. Thankfully, Mom had a good friend here the day we discovered it, otherwise her reaction would probably have been a lot worse :).
Actually, we had a lot of things working in our favor. Just about a week or so before, Mom had decided to start working on school/Christmas pictures, etc. So, she had pulled them off onto the desktop where they were safely saved (whew!!). Also, I had started making a book about our trip to CO so I had pulled off a 100 pictures of our CO trip that were saved. The Stoller's had some pictures of various events that they were able to get to us, and Mom hadn't deleted pictures off of her camera for a while, so we had tons still there. And last of all - the blog! We discovered that we are so thankful that we post so many pictures - and so we will continue blogging, and posting many, many pictures :).
But before I end it this post, I wanted to add some recommendations of good books to read, just in case you're struggling to find something to do during these cold days. First of all, Miracle for Jen - by Linda Barrick. It's amazing, true story of a tragic accident, answered prayers, God's healing hand and His marvelous way of using brain injures for His purpose. It's a must read. Also, Mom and Dad were able to listen to Stephanie Fast speak a couple of weeks back, and then Mom was able to read her book. That's another amazing story - I'm not going to try to explain it in words, but again, God was so present. The book is called She's Mine - by Stephanie Fast. And lastly, Mom has been reading a book called Not by Sight - by Jon Bloom. Don't know much about it, but she said it's really good - and I'm sure she's right :). Oh, and if you're really desperate for things to read, I've been reading Julius Caesar - by William Shakespeare for school, but don't know if I'd recommend it... it wasn't my favorite :).
And thus shall end the boring post. From now on, I promise to post pictures - lots of them! :) - Faith
Ugh. So sorry you lost your photos. I had all of mine backed up when our computer crashed recently, but alas.....I lost all of my Christmas card addresses. It's a bit overwhelming to try to remember back through the last 14 years to think of everyone to send to! And who has moved, etc.
ReplyDeleteThankful that you have so many photos on your blog that you can download! I think I would have had a bad reaction even if I did have a friend there.......
