It's amazing how fast the end of the month sneaks up on us! This summer has felt like a non-summer- it's gone so fast. Pretty soon we will be starting school... but right now, we are still in the garden :).
On Friday -Dad's birthday :)- we spent the day doing sweet corn together along with the help of Cassidy. It was a long, big day, but we accomplished a lot (for us anyway). We started at 5:00 am and picked the patch. Then came the shucking, hairing, boiling, and cutting :).

| Yes, sweatshirts and earbands were necessary- it was barely 60! Believe it or not, we got a text from Kansas while we were working, and the Meyers were in sweltering 102 degree heat! |
Dad had to run into town for something, and he brought us some doughnuts home for breakfast!
Dad and Kenan started cutting for a little bit while we were still hairing. Kenan actually did a pretty good job -- it helped of course that his tongue was sticking out :).

When it was all said and done, we ended up with 63 quarts which is the most we've ever done in a day!
This summer we've had gorgeous flowers and such bright vibrant blooms! Along with our regulars up in the spring garden, we extra room in the big garden where we planted lots of zinnias and another flower packet. I love having all the flowers and we've made lots of flower bouquets!!

| A big, bright yellow tiger swallowtail landed on one the other day, long enough for a picture! |
I went around with the camera the other day and thought this basil was interesting enough :). It's a different variety, and I love how it grew together -- a summertime snowman!
Our tomatoes have such thick foliage that we haven't had too many ripe ones yet. But, when we do, they are going to be terrible to pick! They were planted way too close together - a real jungle. But no weeds!
Here's where the bounty comes in! One days worth of green beans:
