This Time of Year

What's so special about this time of year, you might be wondering. Let's see, leaves are turning and falling, everything we make to eat has pumpkin in it to some degree, we're cleaning up gardens, there's usually at least one cough or cold, we're not thinking about ghosts and witches because we don't like Halloween, we have a little more time to read.... hmmm, nothing all that extraordinary (although ordinary can be extraordinary if seen through the right lens, of course). You might never guess what we are thinking of so we'll just tell you. This specific time of the year for us is all about the Fairview Haven auction! That was on the tip of your tongue, wasn't it?

Well, if you need any *more* encouragement to come, let us share with you something that was on last year's auction. Our family decided to retire the Valentine's dinner we had donated for several years. It needed a break. What we came up with instead was a traveling supper. We didn't know then that it would not only
           a) bring the highest bid at the auction but
           b) give us memories to last a lifetime!

Just to give you a small taste, we've posted a short video. But I guess if you really want to experience it.... you'll have to come to the Fairview Harvest of Sharing Benefit, this Friday, Nov. 1, (auction opens tomorrow) to place your bid. And if you don't like to "travel," there are plenty of other options! :)
