This past week, we got away from all of the gardens for a few days, and took a trip to Yellowstone. Oops, I'm sorry! It wasn't Yellowstone, but
Jellystone! Yes, that's more like it. We went to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Campground/Park in Amboy, IL. Ever heard of it? Our neighbors spent the week camping there and then we joined them for a few days! We left on Wednesday, packed in a big day on Thursday, and then left for Princeville Friday afternoon.
(I think Mom took over 200 pictures of our weekend, so prepare for a LONG picture post!)
We rented a Park RV Model located right across the road from the Edelman's camper!
 |
| The Edelman's campsite, situated very familiarly right across the road from us! |
We had a delicious supper of pork burgers, even if they had a bit of grass on them :)

After supper, we enjoyed many outdoor activities: Miniature Golf, a Water Balloon toss, and tour of the campground - which included an adventurous trek in the timber for some of us - and more!
 |
| The Edelman's had rented a golf cart for the week, so it was usually pretty loaded as you can imagine... |
 |
| It was pretty neat to hop on your bike and ride to wherever you need to go! |
This is the water balloon toss! Amazingly, Cassidy and I won, so we each got a Free Ice Cream Cone ticket!
Playing Miniature Golf
Thursday morning dawned bright and early for those of us who decided to go fishing,
and for those of us who didn't... After a breakfast of pancakes and sausage, we spent some time kayaking and paddle boating!
 |
| Dad really had a work out taking the three youngest out on a paddle boat :) |
After boating, we went swimming, swimming and more swimming!
We also spent a lot of time at the water slides
 |
| Here's Lily (she LOVED the slides, and wouldn't quit) ... |
 |
| ...and Dad... |
 |
...and Marcus (in case you can't tell :).
After a quick lunch, we made a trip to the art barn, and painted pottery, designed T-shirts, drew on chalkboards, and spent some time out of the heat!
Thursday night didn't really seem quite right for a campfire, but after it cooled off, it was very pleasant. We sang as Marcus played his guitar, and enjoyed s'mores and popcorn. So very relaxful!!
Kenan made friends with Kent real fast!

On Friday morning, just as we were driving to the swimming pools, it started lightening, and when it starts to storm, the pools shut down. Soon, it began to thunder, and downpour and we scrambled around to get everything picked up. We were already checked out of our cabin and had everything packed up, and so we all crammed into the camper - standing room only!! Let me tell you, we made great memories!!
We also had fried donuts while we were rained in - Ah...scrumptious!
Wow - this post got really long! Imagine if we would have been gone for a whole week! :) Stay tuned... more about the rest of our weekend coming soon! -Faith
