Making Molasses

Last weekend we went to Sabetha, Kansas, and visited the Meyers. We had a lot of fun the two days we were there. On Saturday afternoon we went to where the men were making molasses. It was pretty interesting. They had an old molasses press. They pushed the stalk into the press and it squished the liquid out. The color of the liquid was a light green but they cooked it until it turned dark brown. -Marcus
