We are more than ready for spring around here! Marcus reported that today is the 96th day of January... we're feeling it! But in spite of all that, it was a beautiful morning the other day when we woke up... and the cold weather has really just given us a little extra time to get things done inside because it hasn't been possible to dig into the ground yet.
Speaking of inside projects... you didn't think we could go through a winter without some sort of remodeling, did you?! :) This year, it is the bathroom - a much needed project, and one we're excited to finish!
Just because we can't get into the ground outside, doesn't mean we aren't digging into it inside! This is Jared's department this year...
Back when it was warmer there for a while, we dug into another family project - outdoor this time. Jared's been doing a lot of work on this one, too, as he spent lots of time cutting down the trees. We spent time one Saturday cleaning up a lot of the branches and brush, and now we need some warm weather and a whole month full of open Saturdays to finish the project. Hmm.... :)
spring landscape clean-up...
we used our good decision making skills one afternoon and decided that homework could wait... sometimes procrastination is just a necessity.
Awhile back, we decided to try something we've never done before - set aside one day to make a whole bunch of freezer meals! It was a success. It was enjoyable to spend the day cooking together, and the meals have been so helpful as we've had some hectic days around here... and no one ever seems too delighted at the prospect of skipping supper.
Unfortunately, our kitchen counter seems to look like this more often than just when we have big food days...
A few weeks ago, I enjoyed hosting another birthday party that I donated to the Fairview Haven auction with friends. This year the chosen theme was a royal princess party!
And I think that pretty well does the job of filling in the cracks... except for one big crack. Our little cutie pie fills so much of our days and lives right now - in such good ways! We so look forward to when we can post pictures of her, because it is just getting hard to document our life without including her in it! But until then, this will have to do. Stay tuned for an exciting post about our recent trip to Texas!
