One day in February (when it was warmer than it is today), I got to go on a fun field trip.
Our first stop was Zimmerman Feed and Grain. I thought it was very interesting how their machines are so big and how they make and mix food for animals. When we were done with the tour, we got to go upstairs and mix our own "feed." It became a HUGE pile of snack mix and we all got to eat some when it was mixed.
Then we took a tour of Dave's. I discovered they have some very unusual things in their produce section like a big, sweet grapefruit.
The bakery was my best part!
I loved seeing the big mixers and ovens, and the jelly donut filler was super neat!! The baker even threw a big lump of dough in the air just like in Curious George and caught it, this perfect circle. That was so cool. And then he turned it into a coffee cake just like that! Too bad there wasn't free samples.
Then we went to a pet boarding place that is actually right at the end of our road. I didn't like it. It was way too loud. She even had movies playing for the dogs to watch in their kennels- that was the best part of being there. The weekend before was a holiday weekend and she said she had fifty pets to board!
Our last stop was a tour of Country Cupboard. I like the twisty-tie machine. (and the sample licorice sticks that we all gobbled up. We were getting very hungry by this time!!)
It was a great field trip- I like to learn about places that are close by or that I even go to a lot. -Kenan
