Why We Homeschool

No, this isn't a long post documenting all the thoughts and reasons why Mom and Dad have chosen to homeschool.

It is instead a post celebrating the fact that because we homeschool, we can be flexible with our schedule and make room for special people that happen to come visit for a day! We love having this flexibility.

Last week Matt and Kim and their kids were traveling through and we enjoyed having them stop here and getting to babysit the kids for the day. We did fall crafts, did some painting, played legos, played in the sandbox, rode ripsticks, ate macaroni and cheese with hot dogs, colored, made Indian corn cereal treats, and decided that we should consider ditching school all together and run a daycare instead.

It was the perfect fall weather!!
Sweatshirts in the morning...

(a lot happening in this picture! the only reported injury was a sore pinky... thankfully it only lasted a few days!)

 ....and barefoot by afternoon!

In other news, we are enjoying participating in a 'Build a City' event with our fellow homeschoolers (Jared and Lily primarily)! All we have currently is pictures of the mess, but that's always a sign of a genuine creator and inventor, right?

As far as the choir, we've got some work to do before our performance, but we have fun working on it together! It's exciting to see progress!

yes, there are girls in the choir, it's just that we've been spending lots of time with those tenor and bass parts separately ;).

And that's it for now... just one of the reasons why we love homeschooling! Unfortunately for every flexible day filled with fun activities, there are several days filled with the not so glamorous homework and more homework. But if we didn't have a little bit of that in our daily routine, it probably wouldn't be that fair to everyone else... :).
 More later!
