These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things

1. Spring days just like the ones we've been enjoying - in February no less! The sunshine and warmer temperatures puts all of us in more cheerful and motivated moods. Give us bike ride weather any day.
2. Kids and more kids! We definitely don't match the Meyer's yet, but we love any kids that we can have here and there to love on.

3. Reading. Individual books and reading aloud - it's all great!
4. Suppers around our kitchen table with all seven of us present. Between evening work schedules, driver's ed for Marcus, and Dad's always present evening meetings, this hasn't been happening much lately! We treasure it when it does.
5. Thick Crusted Pizza. While several fellow Fairburians prefer Monicals thin crust, we'll always go for the thick crust instead. Perhaps the frequent visits to Pizza Hut in the small town we lived in before has something to do with it...
6. Traveling! Whether it's a week long vacation or just a weekend road trip we all get excited about traveling and have many great memories from trips in the past.
7. Music. Anytime, anywhere! Music always makes everything better. The only problem we have is that all seven of us would prefer seven different types of music sometimes.
8. Winter evenings that find us all in the living room. Hot chocolate and good books always add to the effect. (Wait... has this ever happened?)
9. Cousins. All of them. Enough said.

10. Ping-pong- as I mentioned in a recent post, we're not athletic in any way but ping pong is one thing we get into!
11. Soup - all kinds of soup. What's better than a warm bowl of soup on a blustery cold evening? And actually, we've had it in the summer before, too. Chili, Cheeseburger, and Taco rank as the favorites.
12. Singing Loudly - This happens the best in the van - crank up the volume and let it ring.
13. the Kendrick Brother DVD's - all four of them. We've had countless arguments over which one is the best and have never decided on a reasonable conclusion.
14. Applesauce - we may or may not be known for eating it with everything.

15. the Blunier Funnies - Mom has kept a little album filled with the funny things we've done or said throughout the years. It's always great when we read back through them and relive the laughter.
16. Our Piano - such a family icon! In fact, I doubt there is a day where it doesn't get played at some point (except for when we are gone of course).
17. Our Family Vacation Scrapbooks - we started a family tradition of making a book for each family vacation and we love having them to look through and reminisce! Actually, one for DC is needing to be made currently... The neat thing is, we get enough 'free book' emails, that we don't end up having to pay for them!
18. Hosting! - We love using our home to host all kinds of company! Grandparents rank among the favorite :).
19. Dad's Pancakes - ever since I can remember, Dad has made pancakes on Saturday morning. He has his recipe memorized and throws in something different each time to add some variety. Never know what we'll be served! You can check out his recipe in the Fairview Haven cookbook...
20. Cookies-  Not just eating them (because for real, who doesn't like eating cookies?) but also making them! We all get into making cookies when we have the chance. Remember that Christmas cookie bake-off?!

21. Our Neighbors - Whether we're snowed in or have a van stuck in the mud, the neighbors always have the perfect solution.
22. The Blog! - this blog has been such an awesome way to preserve and document daily life and keep friends and family updated since we moved. We've passed up seven years and this marks post #493. Thanks to our faithful followers!

Well there... now you know a little bit more about us! Thanks for reading! As of late, we've been sticking to the ordinary and are enjoying somewhat of a slower schedule and the surprisingly warm weather. God is good!

  1. I had to chuckle when I read number 8 - seriously, I don't think we have done this for five years or more - glad you added the parenthesis... :) It is good to be reminded that amongst the flurry of activity we are making some awesome family memories... - Dad

  2. umm... Mr. Dementia guru- we have all (well maybe not all, but at least 5/7) laid around in the living room twice in the last month.. just without the hot chocolate (why didn't we think of that?)
