If you've followed along for a while, you well know the title 'Leman Vacation'. It's something that has shaped our growing up years. Oh, how we love the annual gathering of Mom's side of the family every summer!
However, this year, the fact that Meyers had other commitments the weekend of Leman Vacation and because we were all planning to head out to Kansas the next weekend for a wedding, Leman Vacation turned into Leman Stay-cation. We hosted the reunion at our house last Saturday and Sunday and while it may not have replaced a Leman Vacation, it came pretty close :). (aside from the fact that we were missing Meyers... )
Everyone arrived in time for lunch on Saturday and an afternoon full of outdoor activities. The weather cooperated splendidly.
rip sticks were a highlight!
a flat tire occupied several of the menfolk for a while
The newest member of the family: Brecken Joshua... he is as squish-able as he looks :)
The good ole' sandbox- sticking true to the Leman name :)
I split the kids into three teams and sent them out on a scavenger hunt across the property... it kept them occupied for quite some time surprisingly and I think they enjoyed themselves :).
Hope's team started off great but later on ended up skipping several clues without even realizing it!!
how many kids can the mower entertain? :)
croquet games!
big bubbles are always a hit :).
Saturday afternoon those of us up for an adventure set out to the nature trail that winds into town. The weather cooperated not so splendidly.
It started pouring down rain just as were preparing to set out. We waited about fifteen minutes till it subsided slightly and then decided to just do it. We arrived at our destination much muddier than when we started out but with many more memories, too :).
We all enjoyed supper at the park together with more games to follow! The weather thankfully went back to cooperating splendidly.
I told you rip sticks were a big hit! :)
We also celebrated Grandpa's birthday... We love you lots!!
An impromptu muscle contest of the grandsons with grandma as the judge...
After supper, we split into teams and did some skits with each team given random items, a specific time in Grandpa & Grandma's life, and a saying they frequently say. It got interesting! :)
gotta love the face! :)
Saturday night we filled all our beds at home (but actually didn't beat our record of overnight guests!) and sent overflow to Kim's and the guest rooms at Fairview Haven :). We enjoyed breakfast together the next morning and then church before ending our Leman Stay-cation.
