Our May was blessed with several events that celebrated Mothers and Daughters! First off, Lily and Mom got invited to attend a little Mother/Daughter tea with some friends one Thursday afternoon.
Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Karen came a celebrated Mother's Day with us again this year! They joined us for church and than an evening of walks outdoors, singing, and good food :).

| Dad tried the salmon recipe that we used for the travel supper... It was delicious (as always)! |
| a nice picture with everyone looking? wishful thinking... |
The Friday after Mother's Day, Mom and I, along with Kate and Kara, hosted a Mother's Day event with all of the girls in our young group and their moms! We used a "tea" theme and thanks to our wonderful friends and neighbors, we were able to collect enough teapots to use one on every table (and another plus - we returned them all in one piece :))!
| We had character qualities on each table that all related to spirituali-TEA :). |
| For dinner we served a salad bar - too bad it was just a few days before our fridges became loaded with our own homegrown lettuce (go figure... ). |
| It ended up pretty amazing thanks to all the people that contributed! |
| dessert: angel food cake with rhubarb sauce and ice cream. |
We gave each table a sack with a verse from Proverbs 31 and several random items in it such as a package of gum, some socks, or perhaps a toothbrush. They had to use all of that plus the character qualities on their table in the form of a presentation. We demonstrated first with a bag of our own (we did get to look at it ahead of time... but that doesn't make much of a difference, right!?) and then let the creativity run wild! It was pretty hilarious to see the different things people came up and the messages behind them were really neat as well! |
Thank you, Kate and Kara, for helping us make the event possible... we couldn't have done it without you!
As far as the events that made up our last weekend in May... I'll have to leave that up to Mom. Although, who knows when she'll get it done - she is 40 now after all! :) -faith
