Forever in Our Hearts

Sixteen years ago was a very happy, special day. 

May 16, 1999, Dave and I became one in the Lord. Its been a love-filled, mountain-top journey, with some valleys here and there, too. We know those are good for us all, but it doesn't make them easy. And God's presence is the only thing that makes them bearable. 

Seven years ago today was one of those valleys. 

May 16, 2008, our precious son Malachi David joined our family. And on May 17, Jesus welcomed him to Heaven.

It's hard to be here living our lives without him.  It's interesting to think how his life would change our family. It's exciting to think about getting to meet him someday.

 When we look around at seven-year-old boys, or at the kids in his sunday school class, it's so hard to believe that he would really be that big! In our hearts though, I think he will always be a newborn - never held in our arms, but always cherished in our hearts.

I have no doubt that his birthday is a happy one today. I can just imagine him... sitting on Jesus' lap, with balloons and a beaming smile! He's one lucky lil' guy up there, to be sure.

Malachi... we wish you the best birthday ever -we can't imagine how perfect it must be! We never got to hold you, never got to see your smile or squeeze your fingers. We wish we could have known you longer and watched you grow up. But you will always be a part of our family - a special part. You are our connection to heaven, beckoning us to keep at it so we can join you someday. We're comin' buddy! xoxo
