With Love from Lily

Hi! Faith has been *hinting* that someone else besides her needs to post. I just think its because she is the only one with any extra time around here!

Then I realized that I have quite a lot to share myself! So here goes:

First of all, have I ever told you that I started playing the violin in the fall? I go to practice (with many of my good friends) every Saturday from 10:30 until noon. Its really fun, except of course, when you throw up! Thankfully mom was still there that day to help me when I was in a pinch.

I am pretty good at practicing all on my own and finally, it was time for a concert. All of my family seriously wondered what this concert would sound like since I just recently began playing with the bow and could only play one song with it. So, we had this big, scary concert at ISU on a big stage with lots of other kids besides the Fairbury string students that I've come to know. We were the first group and then after that, the older groups played too, which makes me very excited for next year!

See what you think:

its sideways permanently, so sorry about that

if you can't pick me out, that's understandable since I was in the back! can you see me behind the girl with the stripes? This was before the concert began.

This is all of the dolce string group (my level) - violins, violas, cellos, and bass. You cant see me but I am in the back left.

After the concert was over, I put my violin in the corner of my room and haven't touched it since, which is not a very good idea! If you ever take violin, don't do that. I am having one of my violin friends over tomorrow and so I think we will play them together!

The last week of school before break, Mom let us off a lot of our regular work (Jared and me), so we could do a lot of crafts and other fun Christmas activities. One of my favorites was making this lantern out of gingerbread. We cut out shapes in the sides and put crushed up candies in the spaces. Then we baked it; when we got it out of the oven, it was stained glass. We lit candles inside. It was so pretty! It stood up about 30 minutes and then it was done. Oh well. It was worth the time! I loved it!

And amazingly, in the middle of December and all the Christmas activities we have going on, Mom told me she would spend a whole day with me! I couldn't believe it! It was easy to make a whole list of what all we wanted to do together.

First, we decorated a cake together. It was a lot of fun.

It was a little bit hard to do my stars. Mom had to help me squeeze.

Dad and Jared had a special day too. They spent much of it putting a model together. But naturally, they had to have a coffee break in the middle! (I think tea is much better than coffee!)

Doesn't it look cute? (and we didn't even need a break!)

One of the things I really like is to have a tea party with Mom. We invited Kenan to join us since it was kind of a long day for him. (He kept saying to all of us, "You are so lucky, you are so lucky, you are so lucky).

Dad and Jared went to bed, and watched "three stooges" I really didn't know Dad liked three stooges but I sure don't.

After our tea party, we crocheted a scarf that I got last year for Christmas. Its still not done. Then we played dollhouse together, which means Mom really loves me a lot! Its been a long time since she played dolls, afterall! We read and played with our hair, and did cat's cradle and sticky mosaics and all those kinds of things that I never get to do with her. Then, best of all, we got to sleep together! XXOO

We did have to spend a little bit of our day in the kitchen putting together some food for the next day. We wanted to have someone to share our cake with, so we had Nathan and Jill over the next day. It was really fun. We had our cake.

These are the birthday 'kids'- every one with birthdays in December and January.

This is all the kids.

That was a lot of things to tell about, but actually the very next day, well, someone else can post about that!
