For weeks we had been looking forward to getting to go to Colorado (or catarado -depending on who you are... :)) and the week finally arrived! We slaved out in the gardens all the way up until it was time to go and boy, are we enjoying our break - thanks to all who are making it possible! :) The weather has been lovely all week when we've needed it to be, and the scenery is so majestic. But before I get too ahead of myself, let's start at the beginning!
Our summer vacation began with a big bang as we started traveling on the 4th! Marcus, Jared, and I traveled with Stollers who just happened to be going out the same time as us, and Mom, Dad, and the little's followed not too far behind. The ride out wasn't too eventful which is probably a good thing :) Thanks Stollers for the making the first leg of our journey a little more exciting! :)
We arrived at Meyers just in time for a delicious supper with fantastic people, and then headed off to the tiny town of Bern, KS to watch fireworks. Just a heads up though, if you ever go to Bern for fireworks, don't let the tininess of the town underestimate your thoughts about their fireworks! They are incredible!!! Better than anything we've ever seen (sorry, Deerfield). We were actually so close to where they were shooting them off that stuff was falling in our faces. But it was worth it - they were awesome!!

waiting for the show :)

| This is actually a pic a gotten off the internet but it still gives the same effect :) |
Unfortunately, our stay at Meyers couldn't last long, for they had things to do, and we had miles to cover! Thanks Meyers, for a great stay :).
traveling the other half of the journey
When we made it to Colorado, we cracked up at the sign - welcome to colorful Colorado. It sure looks colorful, right?!

just wait though, it really does transform into amazing beauty.
mountains in the distance!!
We arrived at out hotel safely on Saturday night in Denver, and ready for a chance to move around, we quickly changed into our swimming suits.... only to find that there was no pool. So we took a walk instead to stretch our leg muscles :). We spent Sunday in Denver church where we met up with some other vacationers we knew! After church we were headed to our condo!
our first introduction to real mountains!
After settling into our condo for the week (which we absolutely love for the most part,) we enjoyed a nice picnic supper, and then a swim in the local swimming pool!
It was great to have finally reached our destination, but the week seems to be slipping through our fingers like sand! Pretty soon we will be headed for the 16 hours home only to find that our gardens have completely exploded with weeds that need to be tended to. But right now, we are fully enjoying Colorado! Stay tuned to here more of our mountain stay :) -Faith
