The "luckiest" Dad around

Well, I have to confess that I started the day off on Father's Day sort of feeling sorry for myself. Not because I don't have a family that loves me to the moon and back, but my thoughts just kept going back to my dad who actually would have celebrated his 67th birthday on Father's Day this year. I was remembering what an example of Faith my Dad was to me and how much I wish I could just talk to him today and share my wonderful children with him. He would have been a great grandpa and I know that my kids would have loved him! As I was thinking about him, I started thinking about Malachi and how much I wish I could celebrate Father's Day with him too. These thoughts threatened to put a damper on my day, but God is good and He has provided me with an awesome wife and five lovely children to lift me up!

After church I called my mom and she informed me that my brother had requested TWO desserts for his father's day meal and his wife was actually granting him the request. Now, you might think that is something that would make me jealous, and well, you are probably right. However, I really couldn't complain when my wife served up a great meal of bbq rib sandwiches, pasta salad and lima beans. Then for dessert was that strawberry pretzel dessert (yum!)

And though I didn't get a second dessert, I did get some amazing treats for a gift, which just happened to include "lucky charms marshmallows". I know, I have a little bit of kid in me to like those things. It just so happened that we had a box of lucky charms around the past couple of weeks and as I was digging the marshmallows out of the box I said "you know, they really ought to sell these marshmallows separate!" Well, as it turns out, they do; and you can buy them at the Country Cupboard...

After an enjoyable supper with my family, we actually had time to sit down and play a game of Yahtzee. AND, those lucky charms I ate (I haven't eaten the whole bag yet - if you're wondering) really paid off, as I won big time!!!

It truly ended up being a very special day spent with some very special people! God has blessed me with an amazing family - that really I don't deserve!

  1. We love the post, Dad! We are very glad we brightened up your spirits because we didn't know you were thinking about all those things and we should have. We had a good evening too! You are the best! Ps- you forgot to say that one of your brother's two desserts was that very same strawberry dessert! Didn't know it was such a favorite!
