Chalkin' up Some Home Improvement Projects

So, we realize that a lot of these projects have been completed for quite a while now and most of you blog readers have seen some of them, but for those of you who haven't - here you go!

Earlier this spring we got a chalkboard to decorate our kitchen! (hence the title...)

making school our life, and life our school :)
A quick snapshot of Mom's lovely creative touch to make the kitchen sparkle!

We just completed a burlap/lace table runner for our piano this week!

You can't really see it in the picture, but inside that treasure chest are books/journals/ledgers/Bibles that were Great-Grandpa Stahl's. You can actually make out his writing which is a mixture of German/English!

Lily's room is finally completed (never mind the fact that she moved in about a year ago...). Dad got the Simply Said up last night!

And last but definitely not least, is the remarkable project Dad whipped up a few weeks ago. He took a few of our old kitchen cupboards (after hanging one in the laundry room for storage), stained them, replaced the handles, and hung them above the desk! They almost look like they go with the desk!

It's great to have more room to go with everything that somehow accumulates on Mom's desk. That way it isn't quite as cluttered.
In our old kitchen we had a cabinet with glass panes. Dad replaced the glass with corkboard so we have a bulletin board too!!

And that's all for now - possibly sometime in the next decade we can complete new kitchen curtains and share the photos with you (you know how we tend to operate :)).

We are all enjoying a little "break" this week as we have completed our 2013-2014 school year and achievement testing! Yippee!!! Next year will be here before we know it... -Faith

  1. All the projects look amazing!! You're all really creative (or else you spend a lot of time on Pinterest, or both)- and it's great that you actually DO projects like that. Here we just talk about it. :)
