A Mountaintop Experience

Here in Atlanta, Georgia, brilliant sunshine, a very high pollen count, and cloudless blue skies means spring has arrived to the Peach State! We are enjoying the awesome weather but most importantly we are enjoying the valuable gift of friendship: the Knapps!! We've made so many amazing and crazy memories and taken so many fabulous pictures:).

Today we got to enjoy God's beautiful creation by taking a visit to Stone Mountain Park. After a really late breakfast, the plan was to hike a bit, enjoy a picnic, and then hike a bit more. We started out with high energy levels and lots of excitement but after a bit of steep hiking, it became more like "...I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...."

starting out with lots of exuberance :)

stopping to catch our breath...

.... because we've still gotta long ways to go!
We finally made it to the top and let me tell you - it was totally worth all of the huffing, puffing, and sweat :) The view from up there was awesome!! It felt like you could look out on the whole state of Georgia! (and that isn't just Lexi exaggerating :))

It was really sunny at the top (in case you can't tell!)

What a gorgeous view - oh, and the background's lovely too!

We were exhausted when we finally made it to our destination, (and by this time in the afternoon, getting ready for our lunch) so, we decided to be a little lazy and take a tram down the mountain!

smiles on the tram :)

Yep - that's the mountain we climbed to the top of!

This is a carving on one side of the mountain of Jefferson Davis, Stonewall Jackson, and Robert E. Lee.

Seth and Marcus went out and bought pink T-shirts of Friday (amongst some other things :)) and they were deemed as the Sally's :) Oh. how we love our brothers!

After we got back to level ground, we had some difficulties finding our way back to the car. We finally made it though, and enjoyed our deliciously picnic lunch around four in the afternoon!

a gathering around the map

awww... :)

It was an awesome day, spent with awesome people, in God's awesome creation! The only downside of the day is all the rosy cheeks around here - but that will pass, and we'll be left with awesome memories :) -Faith (with the help of some friends :))

PS: stay tuned! more is coming of our stay in the south :)

For the God on the mountain, is the God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
The God in the good times, is the God in the bad times.
The God of the day, is still God in the night!
