What was in that special package we picked up on our way home??
Twenty-six new baby chicks- they are SO cute!!
Sunday evening when we got home with our new chicks, we opened the box and took each one out and put its beak in the water to teach it how to drink. Then we gave them food, and after not eating for two days, they were hungry.

For a long time I have begged Dad to get chicks and he finally did! We didn't know exactly where we would put them when we ordered them, but Dad decided that we would divide our garden shed in half and have a pen outside for them to be in during the day. We spent a Saturday putting up a wall and a door in the back that is just big enough for a chicken to go through. We were out there one Saturday and the little kids were going through the chicken door. We bet Dad that he couldn't go through it, so he got down and crawled through!! We couldn't believe it. Too bad we don't have a video of that one! -Marcus
Aw, they are ADORABLE! We've had chicks every spring for about 9 years but I still haven't gotten enough of their cuteness. You'll have so much fun with chickens! :) ~Esther
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely having fun with them as chicks! They are eating a ton of food and we can already tell that they are growing! I wish they could stay as chicks for a while though :)-Faith
DeleteI know. It's kind of sad when they get older. What kind did you get? My favorite kind is white silkies. They are soooooo fluffy! -esther
