Friends, Fabric, and Friday Night Fun

I hope everyone has had a great weekend! We have here in the Fairbury area and are enjoying some sunshine and warm weather!

On Friday, my dear friends, Lexi, Kate, and Megan, came over to sew dresses all day and sing some together too....or so was the plan. They arrived early morning and we started setting up our machines. Then, they each picked out some material to make their first dress out of and then cut it out. Our goal was to make 10 dresses. However, the hours kept slipping by and nothing was getting done! When three dresses were finally cut out ( I was finishing up some other dresses that were started), we began trying to thread machines and so on. We did eventually get all the machines figured out -after quite some time- and after lunch we finally were able to zip, zip, zip and get lots done!

Friday night, we had planned to go to a play at ICC together, and so we had to stop sewing at 4:00, which came upon us a lot faster than we wanted it too. We didn't have even close to ten dresses done and we hadn't had time to sing! So, we came up with a GREAT idea! Since we would be getting home late from the play it made absolutely perfect sense that they would spend the night and then we could sew more in the morning. Doesn't that sound great? We asked (sort of begged) our moms, and they said that it would be ok  IF we went to bed as soon as possible. We promised we would and left for the play.

It was a musical of Caddie Woodlawn put on by the Home-Educated Drama Co-op of Washington and they did an absolutely FABULOUS job! We all loved it, even Kenan (although he might have enjoyed the ice cream he got afterwards more than the play!).  Now all of us girls think we should do a play together (we will see if we get this idea past our moms :) )!

Another problem that we had that slowed us down was that the iron didn't want to work either. So, we had to borrow Bethany's (thank-you!) and then we couldn't figure out how to get that one to heat up. After we realized we needed to turn it on, it worked great!

trying to find some material that matches- thanks A. Dawn for that lovely green material...we used it on a lot of dresses!

On Saturday morning (we had our lights before midnight in case anyone was interested), we got a lot done, and I think we made our goal! We finished nine dresses, but I finished two more that were already started, and we started two other ones but didn't have time to finish them! We also had time to sing a few songs, and then it was time to say goodbye! So many great memories were made that we won't soon forget! -Faith

Here we are with the dresses we made

Aren't they so cute?!!
