Spring MIGHT be on the way
Is this winter getting kind of long for you like it is for us? It is getting especially long for me because last year at about this time we were in the garden. I do have a few "spring things" to keep me busy though. About a month ago we planted some seeds in trays and put them under lights. The only seeds we planted that day were broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower. A few weeks later, we planted peppers, and then finally a couple Saturdays ago we planted tomatos, herbs, and some flowers. Another thing I did last spring was potted some mums that popped up from mom's big one, then in the fall I put the pots in the ground, clipped them off, and covered them with straw. This spring I am going to rake off the straw and in the fall, sell the mums for a better price then I could have gotten last fall.
This year we plan to switch around a little bit with the places we sell our produce at and to. First we got another vegetable basket customer, we also decided to cut back on the farmers market and let another family take over a bit, and last we've been asked to sell produce at a new bulk food store. So about all we can do right now is plant things in the basement, figure out what we are doing with our vegetables, but most of all, leave it in God's hands. -Marcus
