Remodeling Project #4

As you have heard, we are remodeling a basement room that is going to be my brother's and my room. I can't wait since we are almost done and may finish in a week or so. I also can't wait because of the reason I'm getting a new room. In case you don't know, my family is adopting a little girl, and the girls are out growing their room. But I don't care because that means I get a bedroom and it's really is looking good. All we have left is to make shelves for the closet. Why you haven't heard much about this project for quite some time is because we can pretty much only work on Saturdays and its also a huge project. Last Tuesday though, Dad stayed home from work and we about finished it. When we started late last year or whenever it was, we got barn wood from Matt and Kim's barn that blew down a few years ago. We then brushed it with a wire brush, stained it with red stain, and varnished it. When it was dry we took it downstairs and nailed it onto the walls. On two sides we did barn wood on the whole wall but on the other two walls we just did half up and dry-walled the rest. Since Dad didn't feel like sanding we just make it poky kind of like a cement wall and then we painted it. In one corner of the bedroom there is a small closet that has our pressure tank in it. We put shelves in above the pressure tank for us but around the pressure take doesn't look very nice so we are going to make the door like a barn door, the kind that are two doors that open separately (we hope). As soon as we get bunk beds we'll move down. -Marcus

We used rope for the chair rail between the barn wood and wall to make it look more like a barn :)

Lookin' good!

Please don't focus on the messy garage...

  4. We have some of those swinging barn doors out there somewhere - they are probably way too big, but it might be worth checking. Looks great!
