Well, not really, but that's the name of the book that we are going to talk about by C. Coco De Young. This book is about a family that lives during the Great Depression that swept across the United States in early 1930's. The main characters are a girl named Margo and her friend Rosa. Both of them have little brothers. Margo's brother's name is Charlie. The dad has a business so he does not have fear of losing his job but since not very many people have money he doesn't have much business. At the beginning of the book Charlie hurt his foot and they had to borrow many to take him to the hospital. Then the bank turns on them and demands the money back At the same time it is an assignment in school to right to a famous person. Margo read in the newspaper that Mrs. Roosevelt was answering many letters from other kids and helping their families. They only had about five days though until the family would have to move out but she decided to write anyway. She didn't know how the letter get there and a response come in that amount of time but as it turns out the teacher takes it to Mrs. Roosevelt herself because they are good friends. It was a great story that we read really fast because we begged Mom to keep reading and reading and reading. The best thing of all is that it was based on a true story. It taught us alot about what life was like for ordinary people like us during the Great Depression. -Marcus and Jared
(this was too great a book to keep to ourselves! If you are local, we'd love to lend it to you.)
