Our Definition of June

June {according to the Dictionary}: the sixth month of the year, containing 30 days.
June {according to our family}: the perfect month for bike rides, fresh garden produce, and strengthening relationships with cousins and friends, containing not enough days.

It's been a good month. Crazy busy and always on the go but who's life isn't like that these days?

We started off our month with the annual ICHE convention up north while the younger two spent their weekend at Grandpa and Grandma's. I actually had the opportunity to play piano on stage and in the atrium as background music this year! It was different than I was expecting, but a good experience and fun to look back on and say that I did it :). Next up was Caleb's graduation party - a rainy day but we made the best of it and enjoyed each other indoors!

Vacation Bible School always hits the beginning of June and takes over the whole week :). Don't get me wrong, we all enjoy participating, but constant evening plans for a one week is good enough!

how many heads can you count? :) had to borrow an even bigger van than our bus to make this trip to VBS work!!

You can't really tell in this picture, but this evergreen tree was leaning really badly sandwiched in between the pool and the house. Thanks to Matt, Kim, and Laura for trekking out here one afternoon, the tree is no longer and the pool area looks much nicer!! New mulch and a fresh coat of paint on the pool worked wonders. Now if we could get the water back to that sparkling blue...

The pool filled up with kids while the tree-cutting business was going on...

What's a summer post without some garden pictures?! The garden takes up a big chunk of our summer. I'll spare you on saying too much as we talk about it every year, but lately we've been heading out nearly every morning to harvest, weed, or water. It's relentless and a lot of work, but the summer freshness is so fulfilling!!

Lily completed her string project days with a little concert one Thursday evening!! Now it's on to private lessons...

For Haylie's graduation party, Mom, Jared, Lily, and I made the Kansas, and yes, made it safely without Dad's directional leading :). Not that we like to travel without Dad (and Marcus and Kenan), but having a few less persons made for a fun trip and smooth ride. It was kind of bad that it ended up being Father's Day weekend and we all ditched our father - not only that but he had to make the trip to Iowa City to pick up my car on Friday! Thank goodness we celebrated him Thursday night before we left :). We love you, Dad - you're the best!!

heading off with high energy levels and excitement rising! Dad accidentally left his coffee mug in the van and we soon found the caffeine does indeed affect Jared :).

so loved our weekend together, girls - and the one that followed it!! :)

Mom and I ended our stay Sunday after church and traveled home just the two of us - it was an odd feeling but fun to have the time together! Lily came home with Grandma and Grandpa the next day spending all the next week at their house with the girl cousins, and Jared stayed in KS for a week with Cole:). We realized how much they really do to make the family run when it came time for chicken chores each morning and garden harvest! Needless to say, we are glad to have them back.

Thanks to Aunt Joni for putting up with these two all week ;).

Grandpa took the girls out for ice cream one evening...

I'm told they played lots of foos ball, did crafty things, spent some time at a water park, went on bike rides and enjoyed being together!

We've spent some days in June babysitting little kids which we always enjoy :).

And I think that sums up our definition of June nicely!! Of course, much more happened in between all the things I've documented. As I stated earlier, the month didn't last long enough! We're sad to see it go, and yet there is always something exciting or maybe a new challenge to look forward to :). -faith
