An Afternoon Just Us

It was a Sunday afternoon with no plans on the calendar. We were all home for the evening and the sun was shining through the clouds. It was too windy for a family bike ride like we had originally planned, so we decided to set out for plan B. We parked our bus at Fugate Woods north of Fairbury knowing the bluebells were in bloom, yet unsure of what else we'd find.

We ended up finding a trail that led all the way to the Fairbury trail in town and we followed it all the way to the park ;). We hiked through mowed pastures, across little streams, through seas of blooming bluebells, and over tree trunk blockades. We remarked to each other the serendipity of our adventure and the astonishment of discovering a quaint little trail in our own town that most likely no one knows about! However, after running into several groups of people we knew closer to town (including Stollers, of all things! :)), we decided it must just have been us that were ignorant of the trail all these years :). It was still refreshing to discover it together as a family on a Sunday afternoon!

ahem... isn't he supposed to be my protector?! Instead, he clings to me as he nearly slips off the rock :). Let's just say this little occurrence got worse than this - thank goodness we were just a family, haha!

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon? In fact, it was so splendid, we might end up doing it again next Sunday :). -faith

keep hanging on faithful blog readers... travel supper post is in the works!
