Last Friday, we spent the day enjoying the sunshine, inside and out, with cousins!! Our plan was to head to Kelly's Seed to pick up some onions and then head to Grandma's. However, after a fairly long escapade through the city of Peoria which resulted in a destination on the opposite side of the city, we headed to Grandma's without the onions (no more details needed).
We arrived at Grandma's right on time and as soon as we began unloading the van, realized we had forgotten the violin, which was an essential part of the nursing home program that we had planned for that afternoon. After a few phone calls however, the problem was taken care of (thanks, Kim :)).
So, we started off the day (as if it hadn't started already) by visiting a museum behind Grandma's house, and learning all about our 16th president: Abraham Lincoln! Then, after a big lunch, we started out for Peoria Nursing home (which is where Dad began his nursing home career :)) and performed as the entertainment for their monthly birthday party.

"Seasons of our Lives"

of course the real reason we got asked to do a program at Skylines was because of our special one-of-a-kind yodeling Grandpa!
The program went very well for how unprepared some of us felt :) They even asked us to repeat some of our songs! After some cake and ice cream we said our goodbyes and began our trip home! Without too much effort, we made it safely to Kelly Seed and picked up our onion plants (which our now happily growing out in the garden :)). We arrived home and were extremely surprised at what we found... Dad had come home at noon, cleaned the whole entire house (with a few small exceptions), shaped ham loaves for Blunier Easter the next day, hung up a cabinet in the living room and a picture frame in the hallway, and even had candles burning. He's a five-star Dad - actually, it's more like a 500-star Dad!! -Faith |
