City Cousins

We invited our city cousins to come visit for the night Friday and go ice skating Saturday! Anyway, this is all they did:

JUST KIDDING!!! They were actually trying to find games for Kenan to play because he loves to play games on Smartphones! but we just couldn't resist ;)

U. Mitch learned to play guitar as a kid, and so he and Marcus played a little for us while we all sang (we have two guitars now since Marcus recently got his own)

Around 11:00 the parents decided that they were tired and so they all went to bed. All of us older kids stayed up and played Settlers of Catan.

Lily and Hope had such a great time together! They were two peas in a pod the whole time!

After breakfast on Saturday, we got in the van and headed to Bloomington to the Pepsi Ice Center to ice skate for a couple of hours. We finally arrive at our destination and pull up to find a place to park. When we asked the lady about parking, she informed us that the rink was being used for an ISU game that day and there was no open skate. What??? What do we do now? Mom was SURE she had read the schedule correctly. Well, we Googled 'ice skating in Bloomington' on the smartphone just to see if there would happen to be any other possible options (not really thinking there were) and amazingly came up with a place that sounded just about like the Pepsi ice center. Mom skeptically called to get the details and even more amazingly, the times for open skate were the exact same times we had been planning on. It almost sounded too good to be true, but Mom was truly talking to someone on the phone and we really couldn't find any reason to not try it, so she asked directions. The directions involved College and Walnut and it was right near the high school. We couldn't understand the Walnut part but knew where the high school was so off we went. When we arrived at the high school  Dad suddenly realized that this ice center we were looking for was located in Bloomington Indiana! Bummer!!! We ended up roller skating at a roller skating rink instead of ice skating. It was pretty fun, except for the music in the rink was really loud. And I mean REALLY. Mom said that was a once in a lifetime experience, which I think means we will be ice skating in the future!

Even though we couldn't go ice skating, we still had lots of fun! (except Jared) I think Lily and Hope held hands the entire 1.5 hours we skated! After skating, we ate supper at Avantis before separating. We've determined we must do this again (preferably ICE skating next time)!

Thanks so much for coming!! -your country cousins :)
