Are You Sleeping???

We just recently moved Kenan from his crib to the bottom bunk with Marcus. He generally does pretty good but can get into a little trouble if Marcus doesn't go to bed the same time that he does.

One night Dad tucked Kenan and Lily in bed and then Dad went to his own bed.  Marcus, Jared and I were downstairs, and Mom was working on the computer. When Mom went to check on Kenan, he had gotten a chair and stood on it to reach the light switch, and turned the light on so that he could read books. When Mom discovered that he was reading books instead of sleeping, he begged her to let him for a little bit (of course, he did this all without talking). She, knowing how delightful it is to read before bed, gave in and went back to her computer work. When the boys went to go to bed, they discovered that he gave up reading books, found a sucker Jared was saving for himself, crawled up into bed, enjoyed his sucker for a little while, but just couldn't quite finish it.

On Sunday night, our family was home for the evening, and at 8:30, Kenan and Lily were tucked into bed, while the rest of the family stayed up a little longer. After awhile, Marcus went into his bedroom preparing to go to bed. He came back out to the rest of us and stated, "Kenan is really going to be a book worm." We all followed him into his bedroom to see what Kenan had done now! He had got the boy's flashlight, and stuck the magnet to the top of his bunk beds so that it was shining down on him. Then he found  a book and crawled into bed thoroughly prepared to read his book without anyone knowing.

Some nights when the boys are tucked into bed, Kenan has a little bit of trouble falling asleep. One night when Kenan was being very wild, Marcus said, "Kenan, I'm going to count to three and you better be asleep when I get to three." Marcus then began to count slowly to three. When he gets to three, he asked, "Are you sleeping?" Kenan softly replied, "Yes."

Another time, Marcus instructed Kenan that he needs to stop being wild and go to sleep. After a few seconds, Kenan begins loudly snoring, trying to get Marcus to think he was sleeping! He certainly is very smart, and can get his point across very easily, but why can't he talk???? -Faith
