It's True!
You often hear people say "it's so hot you could fry an egg out there!" Well, hot as it was, I thought I have to try this. So, at 1:00 yesterday I cracked this egg into a cold frying pan and set it out on our patio table. At 3:00 Faith took this picture for me to prove that yes in deed, it was so hot you could fry an egg! So, how hot was it? (Sorry, Dustin, I know you think pictures of thermometers are boring; but this is for our rememberance in the future. :))
Yep, that's right it reached 110 (Thursday AND Friday!) Today as I type this it has only reached 108 and climbing! Faith informed us this morning that the pool water was too warm to swim in yesterday afternoon...
Every time I drive anywhere, I am in complete awe of how bad the corn looks around us. I seriously do not remember ever seeing corn so pathetic looking.
Our grass is completely dried up and Kara is watering approximately 60 hours per week to save our garden produce. I am praying our well holds up for that. Also I think of our farmer friends as it will be a hard year for them. As Kara said, we just need to be thankful that a severe drought like this usually happens only every 20 + years - at least we hope so (we vividly remember scenes from 1988)! - Dave
