Grandma's are for Knowing What to Do

"I don't know what to do..." is one of Lily's latest most frequently repeated phrases, the first of my children to do it so persistently. I have asked her to stop. She hasn't yet. Last weekend, Grandma and Grandpa so lovingly stayed at our house for a few days while Dave and I got away alone (well almost alone) and did some shopping and also attended the state homeschool convention. Arriving home around noon on Saturday, we of course had plenty to do- a vanload to put away or at least try to, deal with the broken washer, catch-up with the kids, and prepare for overnight guests that evening. No sooner had Grandma pulled out of the driveway than Lily was at my side with nothing to do. She asked me to play with her. No, this wasn't the day that I would have time to play, really. She asked again. I tried to explain why I couldn't, feeling worse all the time, especially when she mentioned that I never do. After more attempts at discussion, to which I had ceased to respond, she stomped off, huffing and puffing and muttering, "Grandma knows more things to do than you!"

Thanks so much for all your help and all the fun, Grandma and Grandpa!
